Spinone
Club of America, Inc.
An AKC Licensed Member Club.
2008 SCOA Annual Meeting
The SCOA Annual Meeting and Specialty will be held in beautiful southern
Illinois in April 2008. The site is centrally located and will be reasonably
accessible for members from most areas in the United States and Canada.
Transportation, lodging, meals, permits, and birds are all available at a
reasonable price.
Welcome to the 2008 Spinone Club of America combined specialties, obedience and
rally trials, hunting events, and many other activities. This year we are
offering seminars and clinics on hunting, health, and conformation, as well as
fun events like the Spinone Olympics. We will be gathering to enjoy the
camaraderie of fellow Spinone lovers and to celebrate the heritage of the
Spinone Italiano as a versatile hunting dog and companion.
Our 2008 annual national specialty show is being
held at a beautiful location in breathtaking Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park: the
Rend Lake Resort in southern Illinois. This unique resort affords us the
opportunity to hold all aspects of the annual meeting and specialty at one
location. The site offers excellent fields and ponds for hunt testing as well as
training. Should inclement weather prevail, this area is large enough to hold
conformation, rally, and obedience trials indoors.
I’d like to thank the many people who have worked so
hard to make this event possible, especially Kay McLeland and the Show
Committee, as well as the Club Officers. I also ask that those of you able to
volunteer some time during the week be in touch with Kay McLeland (Show
Chairman, kkm@carlnet.org) or Ann Bagnell (Registrar,
annbagnell@gmail.com). Being involved is one of the best ways to
get to know fellow Spinone enthusiasts!
We are brought together by the love of this unique
and wonderful breed, but even when we say it’s “all about the dogs,” we usually
find it’s also “all about the people.” We invite you to come for the whole
week of planned events to enjoy the activities, meet old friends and make new
ones. Have a safe and enjoyable trip — I hope you will find it a
worthwhile and fun week.
