| The "Spinone Only" Field Dog Training Day(s) offer
a rare opportunity for Spinone handlers of all experience levels to work with their dogs
and meet other owners of this special breed. The first day, Friday, June 25, will take place in Haverhill, Massachusetts near the border of Mass., Maine and New Hampshire. The second and third days (June 26 & 27) will be held in Bowdoinham's Merry Meeting Bay Wildlife Refuge, a postcard perfect setting in southern Maine. |
The event is hosted by SCOA members Chris Chadwick (founding
member of the Yankee & Sebastacook NAVHDA chapters) and Lena Amirian (long-time field
dog trainer). Chris and Lena ensure that everyone from the (nervous) novice to the
seasoned veteran receives friendly, personalized instruction tailored to his or her dog,
its age and its experience level. Both Chris and Lena hunt with their dogs
throughout the season (Chris is also a registered Maine Guide), and this training clinic
should not be missed by anyone who owns a Spinone for hunting. But, it's not just
for hunters. Non-hunters will be amazed to see their dogs' natural instincts spark to life
when they're exposed to the role for which the Spinone was bred. And, you and your dog
will thoroughly enjoy the fun and camaraderie. So, whether you're preparing your Spinone for a NAVHDA test, want a pre-season "tune-up," or simply wish to treat yourself and dog to some quality time, mark your calendar for the Fourth Annual "Spinone Only" Day(s). Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 25, 26 and 27. You and your dog will be glad you did! For those wishing to stay overnight, "dog-friendly" motel accommodations are available at reasonable rates.
