Wish Come True |
A Rescue Story as told by Michael Gastman |
| In the late summer of 1991, Beniamino came to the United States. His
papers were in order and he made it through Customs with no problems. After a brief stay
in New York City, he drove up to the Catskills for what he believed would be warm August
sun, cool lake water and plenty of good food. Much to his surprise all were present
and, in addition, there were shot gun blasts that scared Beniamino out of his wits.
Beniamino's fear of the great noise brought isolation in the garage and soon the absence
of food. After several weeks Beniamino was alone: unable to walk and too weak to speak.
Fortunately, the town police routinely inspected houses closed for the summer and
found Beniamino barely able to breathe in the dark garage. They drove him to the County
Humane Society. He was cared for and nursed back to health from mid October to late
January 1992. At that time his primary care giver knew of a wonderful family who's beloved
Shepard had recently died. She called and on Valentine's Day "Bill" moved in
with Bob and Shiela. Bill's been fine and dandy ever since. He loves the snow,
enjoys the Spring and looks forward to the warm August sun, cool lake water and plenty, I
said plenty, of good food. Bill's Friend
