LUCA At Eight Months
Who has a wet beard and muddy feet?
He's our Spinone.
Who howls "Woo-woo" when he
wants to eat?
He's our Spinone.
Who lies down in sections like a giraffe?
Who's a bratwurst tail makes us laugh?
Who has
stiff whiskers on his face
And trots about with easy grace?
You guessed it - our Spinone.
"Come. Sit. Stay. Down," we say a lot
Those Figure Eights are easy - NOT!
Our
golden, Happy, must be spayed
Of goldenoni we're afraid.
White hairs all around the floor
Dirty streaks on the kitchen door
The sofa has an awful rip
The floor's all wet. WAIT! Get
a grip!
Who's SO delighted when he sees us
And always tries his best to please us?
Who tilts his
head as he tries to listen
That noble head of the
Wiry Griffon?
Our Luca is a gentleman
We'll never he afraid of him.
Look at that face.
Those trusting eyes.
We love this dog, we realize.
What kind of dog is THAT? (eyes wide)
"He's our Spinone," we say with pride.

Luca taking a nap with his "arm" around his "sister...."
Happy, 5mos.; Luca, 6mos. (8/92)
